Tanzanite wasn't discovered until 1967 and is found only one place on earth: the hills of Merelani in northern Tanzania. This makes Tanzanite an increasingly rare genuine gemstone.
Often facetted, Tanzanite is known for its brilliance and its colors range from violetish blue to bluish violet. Tanzanite has a hardness rating of 6 to 7 out of 10, making it softer than other gems of similar color. It can be worn occasionally or even daily with care and makes for an absolutely stunning class ring centerpiece.
